Namaskar,
There are stories in Puranas that God appeared before the devotees.
However, for seekers of the true knowledge of God one has to understand
from Guru as to how to see God.

Namaskar,
It is extremely difficult for any mother on this earth to bare the loss of her child.
however, it is true that millions die everyday and each of them is son/ daughter of some or the other mother.
Once Gadge Maharaj (Saint from Maharashtra) was delivering pravachan on the stage. He had deeply engaged his mind in explaining to the people who were curiously listening every word of the saint. Suddenly a messanger climbed up to stage and whispered a few words in the ears of Gadge Baba.
He informed the saint that his ailing son was expired. Baba was stunned for a second, but then he "coped up" with the situation and told the people, (in Marathi)
"Yeti Jati Kotyanu Koti, Radu Kuna Kuna Sathi"
English translation : " I need not cry on death of my child. Millions of my children are taking birth every day and millions are dying every day. I can't cry for everybody or anybody"
It is better for mother to read and understand Bhagwat Geeta in which it is explained that there is no birth nor the death. (Na jayate mriyate wa...). I do not thing there is any other book in this world to console the sad heart of mothers, other than Geeta.
