Probably the best write up on the secrets of huge number of Hindu Gods, since past 1000 years !
The flooded river came down to normal flow next day, and the rude man was waiting overnight on the bank of river. He crossed the river and went to Shiva temple. However, on that day, he could not beat or abuse the Lord. He was continuously crying and blaming himself for the cruelty he had done to Shiva for three years. Again and again he was asking for pardon to lord and crying loudly. He could not sense when he entered full concentration in Shiva, (Samadhi), and lied there holding the Shiva Pindi in his arms for 24 hours. The concentration brought back to him the memories of his origin, and the rude man became a great saint. He realized God. This is a true story taken place on the banks of Narmada river, say the people in the village.
So, important is the proximity with God by mind. Prayers or abuses are same for God. The whole purpose of Japa, Tapa, Mantra, Tantra, Mala or Yoga or Kundalini, art of living or even Vedanta reading, prayer, worship, confession, pilgrims, keeping fasts, austerity for God, philanthropy or whatever exercise told by any religion on the earth is only for the sake of making the people of the world introvert. Because, introversion is the first step on the way of achieving God, irrespective of any religion. All of us must have marked that whenever, any person on this earth prays his/her God according to his/her faith, his/her eyes close automatically, depending on the depth of his emotions for God without making efforts to shut the eyelids. This happens most naturally and due to will of God. God wants us to close eyes and look into inside, not in the temple, not in the sky or not in prayer house. It is unfortunate that the nescient people of the world do not understand this simple clue given by the God to them, about where to find God.
The theist people in the world believe external God or Gods and Goddesses. They get sometimes satisfied and think that God has responded to their prayers, if their problems are solved, or the things had taken place as they desired. The thoughts of satisfaction about God enter their mind due to inner prompts. The human mind is extremely powerful. The mind has a property of “Tadakarita”. What is Tadakarita? It is one of the properties/qualities of the mind, that it takes shape of the thoughts and shows you or makes you experience the thoughts by five sensory organs that are the offshoots of mind. Your thoughts take the real shape, color, movements and what not! It creates an exact image of the thoughts, which one can see by his own eyes. We know that the young boys and girls who think too much about their “would be marriage partner”, sometimes get the image of the partner in front of their eyes, irrespective of their eyes are open or closed. Their thoughts pursue them during sleep also, and become a scene/event in the dreams. The prayers to God in which the mind is deeply involved create the similar effects. It is not God who is concerned with the prayers, it is our own mind. Any prudent person on this earth can test this for himself.
There are many great scientists in the world who discover/invent many new things through their prolonged research. Their concentration on the project gives birth to success in their research. They honestly thank God irrespective of their religions and say, “This is not mine. God has given me this success. It was God who created the brilliant idea in my mind suddenly, and I could do this.” The creator of thoughts is the God. He is a back-seat driver in the life vehicle whose apparent driver is the brain. He sits in the brain and gives the people good or bad thoughts depending on their Karma phala. (Result of past deeds). Like the scientists, the ancient Indian sages made a prolonged research for God. They observed full austerity and celibacy. Their concentration upon God was so absolutely perfect that they could establish dialogue with God and heard the words. They noted words after their “Vyutthan”, i.e. release of Samadhi. (concentration). Those words were called Vedas. The sages could listen and understand those words due to grace and blessings of God. It was impossible for others to understand those words without blessings of God. The common people can’t observe celibacy nor can they take up the austerities like total fast, (eating tree leaves to satisfy hunger), staying in jungle without clothes on the person, reciting God’s name continuously or concentrating on God etc. Naturally, people could not hear those words called Vedas. Vedas were misunderstood by the people of the world because people could not understand them. A few persons opposed the Vedas and formed the sects based on their own thoughts and experiences. The author dares to say that had Goutam Buddha understood the hidden doctrines of Veda, there would not have been a separate sect that opposed the Veda. Why only Goutam Buddha, nobody in the world could understand those doctrines except a very few sages. Since there was not a material proof that the sages knew the truth, many people disbelieved them. With the fear that the nescience of the people of the world who can’t understand Vedic knowledge, would divide the humanity in to religions, the great and kind sages of the ancient India formed the Indian mythology which was accepted happily by most of the world and the disruption of the Vedic religion in too many sects stopped. The great epics like Ramayana, Mahabharata were deliberately created to stop the Buddhi Bheda of the people (mental distraction).
