Probably the best write up on the secrets of huge number of Hindu Gods, since past 1000 years !
The Jnani could not belong to any one of the faiths like Monotheist, Polytheist or Pantheist, Halftheist (?) etc. Till a child attains a proper age, the parents and other elders tell the child that he was brought to home from the hospital. It is not disclosed to a small child as to how he was born.  In the same way, these enlightened self-realized saints being responsible people can’t tell the secrets of God to everybody without obtaining prequalification (Adhikar).  Whole of the theist world is like a 3 year old child for the Jnanis.  Jnani persons keep the nescient masses busy in the devotion and prayers of the God, because the concept of the God is very easy to digest to the common people of the world. Like children of the age group under 5 if feared with the concept, that the Ghost enters house if they do not go to bed early, they believe it immediately. In the same way the theist people of the world who are nescient are effectively feared by the teaching of the presence of God, and the teaching that God is ruling the world.  Even the highly educated, matured, scientists, theologians, philosophers etc. fall prey to this God concept. This is natural. The religions take advantage of this natural fear of God in the minds of public and fan it powerfully by the stories in scriptures and holy books.  For this purpose, i.e. for making the people afraid of God, all the religions are ranked in same category. Both in monotheism and so called polytheism, people are repeatedly told that they should fear God. In devotional Hinduism, the people are literally forced to be away from the knowledge of God. They are told to pray and worship God and to recite His name. Even today, the Hindu clerics and saints in their discourses insist that people should not learn the knowledge of God and should only pray God and listen to the stories of God from Bhagwat or any other Purana; doing so, they tell people, that God shall fulfill their all desires and will be present before the devotees physically.  They do not disclose the secrets behind the stories of God, because most of them do not know the deeper knowledge of Upanishadas.

A very popular Guru from India whose lectures are telecast daily on Indian TV advises people not to read Geeta.  He says, “ Geeta will confuse you, instead read the stories of God in Bhagwat”.  He is not wrong. He knows that nescient do not need the knowledge of God. He knows that nescient be kept busy in the name of God lest they are extremely involved in material life to make themselves always unhappy.

In fact, the honest purpose of the religions those days was to bring in the discipline in the society in the name of God. They knew that a human being is a most dangerous animal if not brought under control of some kind of discipline.  In the recent days, the discipline implemented by the democracy, Government, law, society, Police, people etc. has more grip on the people and the fear of God is no more required to that extent, as it was required before thousands of years. But the effects of the brain wash by the Holy Books’ are so deeper that the blind faith filled in the heads of the people is irremovable.   The Jnanis or the people who really know God are unable to make the nescient understand the knowledge about God for the reasons explained in the above paragraphs. It does not matter whether a person is monotheist, pantheist or polytheist; God is not at all concerned with faith of any person.  God is unmoved by any kind of prayer or worship or Japa or Tapa  or Mantra, Tantra, Mala or Yoga or Kundalini, art of living or even Vedanta.  All these things, in the thoughts of Jnani , do not help realizing God. God has nothing to do with this human concepts and worldly matters. Whether one abuses God or praise God has no effects on God. Many abusers of God have attained God as described in the ancient stories. Here is a beautiful story.

There was one very rude and ill mannered person in a village. On the advice of his friends and relatives he met a Guru. Guru asked him as to which form of God he liked?  The rude person told Guru that he hated all the forms of God and would like to beat them by stick instead of praying or worshipping them. Guru appreciated the idea of beating God.  Guru told him that he would vow that he would daily go to the temple of Lord Shiva and beat the Pindi (symbol of Shiva) by a heavy stick 100 times daily. Guru also told him that while beating, he must abuse Lord Shiva, and he should not at all miss this beating a single day.  Rude man was happy with the advice of Guru, and his friends and relatives accepted it thinking that whatever Guru would do, would benefit the rude man.  The rude man would daily cross the river by a boat and visit Shiva temple, and would make dirty abuses to Lord while beating 100 times by a heavy stick. He did not miss his routine in three years for a single day.  One day the river was flooded and the rude man could not cross it by boat.  He waited for flood to reduce to normal level, but in vain.  With thoughts that Lord Shiva would be waiting for him, the tears rolled down his eyes. He became restless with the thoughts that he would miss his Shiva Darshan (meeting) for that day.
